JUST ADD OLIVE OIL. THIS IS A FLOATING CAN OF SARDINES!
This Odyssey, Homer might have been hard pressed to criticize, but I am not!
Let us begin with ambiance. Ambiance totally evaporates on a cold, damp, rainy afternoon such as we experienced on Sunday April 6th, 2008.
The service, however, was beyond reproach. The waiters were courteous and attentive, bowing to our every wish. Enough good things cannot be said about them!
I evolve from a musical family and really enjoy good vibrations when I hear them. I understand and appreciate good composition & execution. The drummer & female lead singer were especially talented. To cite just a couple the songs that they performed so well:
I will Survive by Gloria Gaynor.
A Taste Of Honey.
Great Band!
Between songs, a tour guide would have added historical significance to the cruise, telling stories & highlighting points of interest along the way. A little disappointment here goes a long way!
The seating would be classified as “CRUEL & UNUSUAL PUNISHMENT,” in any court of law! The guest seated at the table directly behind me and I were squeezed back-to-back doing the, ‘RUMP BUMP’ & “TUSH PUSH” all afternoon. We were packed like Sardines in a tin can. THAT IS WHAT THIS BOAT IS, A GIANT SARDINE CAN! I could hardly wait for someone to screw off the tin lid and yank me out.
Speaking of fish, the salmon was first class. I also liked the bacon & eggs. Penny remarked how much she enjoyed the squash & zucchini dish. The beef, on the other hand, should not even be used for dog food. “Tired, Tough, & Tasteless” are words, much too generous to describe it.
Champagne & orange juice, odd bedfellows, were both very good. The coffee had a nice flavor but, unfortunately, it was decaffeinated. I must have my caffeine jolt in the AM! Fresh fruit & chocolate fountains are always very popular and today was no exception.
The poppy seed cream and the carrot cake were both fabulous.
Overall it was a sorry experience. I will never recommend it to anyone that I hope to keep as a friend. There was simply too much pain & suffering. The simple act of getting up from the table, for any reason, was pure agony! This was a brunch-cruise worth regretting & forgetting, however, I’m glad we went.
