Celebrate America’s 400th Anniversary in Historic Alexandria

Sunday May 28, 2006
America will celebrate the founding of Jamestown in 1607, the first permanent English settlement in North America with 18 months of events in 2006 and 2007. America’s 400th Anniversary Celebration begins in Historic Alexandria on Saturday May 28 – Sunday June 4, 2006 when a newly-built replica of the Godspeed (one of the three ships which brought the first colonists to Virginia) visits here before it travels to five other east coast ports. Historic Alexandria has scheduled an Anniversary Landing Festival and many special events and exhibits to coincide with this historic event.
