Visit the newly renovated National Portrait Gallery and the Smithsonian American Art Museum on July 1 at 11:30 a.m. for a ribbon cutting and a fun-filled day of activities for all ages.
The National Portrait Gallery and the Smithsonian American Art Museum reopen on July 1, 2006 showcasing a newly restored historic building that stretches two city blocks within the revitalized arts district of downtown Washington.
The Grand Reopening Family Festival will run from 11:30 a.m. - 7 p.m. and includes live performances, arts & crafts, costumed historical characters and an ice cream party. Free Shuttle buses will transport visitors roundtrip from the Smithsonian Folklife Festival on the National Mall.
