Toys For Tots – Washington, DC

Friday November 23, 2007
The Toys For Tots program is a holiday giving program that is administered by the U. S. Marine Corps. Toys for Tots began in 1947 when U.S. Marine Corps Major Bill Hendricks and a group of Marine Reservists in Los Angeles collected and distributed 5,000 toys to needy children for Christmas. In 1948, the program expanded and became a nationwide campaign. Any individual, business or organization can hold a toy collection drive or donate a toy to a collection drop off location. There are more than 400 Toys for Tots drop off locations in the Washington, DC area. Toys donated should be new, unwrapped and preferably around the $10 or above price range. Make a donation and share your holiday spirit!
