Inauguration 2009 Schedule of Events

To allow as many people as possible to participate in the inaugural events, the Presidential Inauguration Committee is planning events throughout the inaugural weekend.

• Obama, Biden and their families will travel by train to Washington, DC and will host events along the way on Saturday, January 17, 2009 in Philadelphia, Wilmington, and Baltimore.


• An official welcome event will be held on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial to kick off the inaugural celebration on Sunday, January 18, 2009.


• On Monday, January 19, 2009, a free youth concert will be held at the Verizon Center.

So if you want to participate in the inauguration but would rather avoid the record breaking crowds on Inauguration Day, you might think about attending some of these other events.
