This is a big year to celebrate and honor the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. With the day falling just before the Presidential Inauguration of Barack Obama, this year the annual holiday has more meaning for all Americans. To honor Dr. King’s legacy, Obama, Biden and their families will participate on January 19 in activities dedicated to serving others in communities across the Washington, DC area and encourage others to reach out and serve others around the nation. A number of organizations in the Washington, DC area will host concerts, film festivals and other commemorative events in honor of the civil rights leader.
