Duke Ellington Jazz Festival

Friday February 20, 2009
The Duke Ellington Jazz Festival celebrates its 5th anniversary this year and will permanently move the festival to June, expanding it to 11 days with three days of concerts on the National Mall. The Duke Ellington Jazz Festival will be held June 5-15, 2009 featuring more than 100 jazz performances at concert venues and clubs throughout Washington, DC. The lineup of performers will include Ellis, Branford and Delfeayo Marsalis, Terence Blanchard, Irma Thomas, Buckwheat Zydeco, Rebirth Brass Band, Nicholas Payton, and Harry Connick, Jr. With free, all-day concerts on the National Mall, this event should be a great way to remember local jazz legend Duke Ellington.
