Celebrate the Birthday of the National Park Service at the White House Visitor Center

Sunday August 23, 2009

Have you ever been to the White House Visitor Center? To tour the White House itself, you must make a request to a member of Congress months in advance. But the Visitor Center is open to all and features films, exhibits and a gift shop. Visitors are invited to a special family-friendly event on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 between 9:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. to help celebrate the 92nd birthday of the National Park Service. The White House Visitor Center will play host to the interactive program, called “Are You Smarter than a Park Ranger?”, a half hour long game show, scheduled at 10:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., and 1:30 p.m. Members of the audience will compete for prizes by testing their knowledge of the National Park Service. The day’s events will also include book readings, crafts and games to appeal to all ages.
