Another weekend of great festivals! See a guide to the top events going on in Washington, DC and the surrounding communities.

  • Cirque du Soleil OVO - Sept. 9 - Oct. 24, 2010. Grand Chapiteau (Big Top) at National Harbor. The live acrobatic show is sure to be an unforgettable performance.

  • Washington Redskins - Sept. 19, 2010. The Redskins play against the Texans at FedExField. Kickoff is 4:15 p.m. ET. The game will be nationally televised on CBS.

  • Washington Nationals Host Opera in the Outfield - Sept. 19, 2010, 2 p.m. This year's free opera simulcast of Verdi's dramatic opera A Masked Ball (Un Ballo in Maschera) will be broadcast live in high definition from the Kennedy Center Opera House to the Nationals state-of-the-art HD scoreboard at Nationals Park. Tickets are not required. Gates open at noon.

  • City Center Market and Festival - Through Sept. 25, 2010. The event will feature a farmers market, gourmet foods, local wines and brews, live bands and music, exhibitions and displays, arts and crafts, clothing, electronics, antiques, souvenirs and much more.

  • Oktoberfests Near Washington DC
    Throughout September and October. Enjoy a family fun event focused on German beer, food, music and dancing. See a schedule of events around the region.

  • National Hispanic Heritage Month - Sept. 15-Oct. 15, 2010. Celebrate the culture and traditions of Spanish speaking residents who trace their roots to Spain, Mexico, Central America, South America and the Caribbean.

  • Fiesta Musical at the National Zoo - Sept. 19, 2010. 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Enjoy a celebration of Latin American culture and wildlife through a variety of family-oriented activities, live music and dance, special keeper talks, and a Latin American food court.

  • Constitution Day Events - Sept. 17-18, 2010. Commemorate the formation and signing of the U.S. Constitution with special events at the National Archives and the White House Visitor Center.

  • Anne Arundel County Fair - Sept. 15-19, 2010. Anne Arundel County Fairgrounds, Crownsville, MD. Monster truck rides, carnival rides, farm animals, pig races, antique saw mill, pie eating contest, talent show and much more.

  • Great Frederick Fair - Sept. 17-25, 2010. Frederick Fairgrounds. Musical entertainment, tractor pulls, equine expo and showcase, agricultural events, food.

  • International Children's Festival - Sept. 18-19, 2010. Wolf Trap National Park, Vienna, VA. Enjoy live performances from around the world and a variety of arts and craft activities.

  • Mount Vernon's 18th-Century Craft Fair - Sept. 18-19, 2010, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. The fair is a re-creation of an early American marketplace with artist demonstrations, family entertainment and 18th-century amusements.

  • Virginia Wine Festival - Sept. 18-19, 2010. Centreville, VA. Sample wine from 60 Virginia wineries and enjoy gourmet food, seminars, arts and crafts, live music and more.

  • H Street Festival - Sept. 18, 2010, noon-6 p.m. The festival includes musical and dance performances, children's activities, crafts, international foods and more.

    Celebrate Gaithersburg - Sept. 19, 2010, noon-5 p.m. Bring the whole family to the annual Gaithersburg street festival, with live music, food, arts & crafts, amusements and more.

  • Architecture Week DC - Through Sept. 30, 2010. Actually three weeks of programs and events where members of the general public and architectural practitioners will get closer to architecture and learn more about the buildings they've always wondered about, like embassies, private residences, cultural centers and historic sites.

  • Maryland Renaissance Festival -Through October 24, 2010. A 16th century English village with crafts, food, live performances, games and lots more. Located in Crownsville, Maryland.

  • National Rehabilitation Hospital Super-H 5K Run, Walk and Wheel - Sept. 19, 2010, 8 a.m. Tysons Sport and Health, 8250 Greensboro Dr., McLean, VA. The event benefits the hospital's adaptive sports programs which enable those with disabilities to play adaptive sports such as wheelchair basketball, soccer, sled hockey, rugby and more.
