His Holiness the Fourteenth Dalai Lama will confer the Kalachakra for World Peace ritual in Washington, DC from July 6 - 16, 2011 at the Verizon Center. A free event - "A Talk for World Peace" will also be presented by the Dalai Lama on Saturday July 9, 2011 at 9:30-11:30 a.m. on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol. The Dalai Lama will share his personal views on world peace and the audience will have an opportunity to ask His Holiness questions. Whoopi Goldberg will emcee the event. She will be joined by musical artists Skylar Grey and Michael Fitzpatrick. Grey will perform a never before heard Version of the hit song Coming Home, as a tribute to the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan people. Public access to the West Lawn opens at 7 a.m. Space is limited so arrive early. Lawn seating only (no chairs). Public transportation is highly recommended. The closest Metro stations are Union Station and Capitol South.

The Kalachakra Ritual Dance will take place on July 12, followed by three days of actual Empowerment from July 13 - 15. On the final day, July 16, the Kalachakra for World Peace 2011 will close with a ceremony offering prayers for the long life of the Dalai Lama and a long-life blessing will be given to all in attendance. Can he and his followers be allies who might help spread the word that we all can do something to begin our journey toward World Peace?
For many, the first step, on this thousand mile trek, is to decide that we will evolve into the harmonious, thoughtful, patient, forgiving and loving humans that we are required to become in order to establish peace in our world. One place that we can take up the challenge is on the road. Whether as motorists, cyclists or pedestrians, we can participate in the “Drive For Peace” that will show us the wisdom of kindness and the rewards of “Road Peace.”
