has announced that it is ending service in Washington DC on October 31, 2011! Since 1967, Tourmobile has operated a shuttle service and narrated tours of the National Mall
and were allowed exclusive access to the busiest roads surrounding Washington's top attractions. The National Park Service has decided not to renew Tourmobile's exclusive contract which prohibited the expansion of other kinds of transportation around the Mall.
Although Tourmobile was overpriced, it was a combination of tour and transit and was a great way to travel the distances on the Mall.
The National Park Service is still sorting out this announcement and how it will affect the sightseeing business in Washington DC. What do you think? Will public buses, bike rentals and pedicabs take over transportation around the Mall?
