The dedication of the new Martin Luther King Memorial in Washington DC was postponed due to Hurricane Irene. The Memorial opened to the public on August 22, 2011 and is a spectacular tribute to Dr. King. The official ceremony has been rescheduled for October 16, 2011 at 9 a.m. President Barack Obama, Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar, members of the King Family, and civil rights leaders are expected to participate. There will be limited, reserved seating for the official Dedication party inside the forecourt of the Memorial. The West Potomac Park viewing site is open to the public and tickets are not required. © Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial
