CityMarket at O, a $300 million mixed-use development is under construction in downtown Washington DC. CityMarket at O was just fast-tracked for HUD funding by the Obama administration. The project will create 2400 jobs and features 635 residential units (including dedicated senior housing), a Cambria Suites hotel, retail and restaurants. The project is being built to achieve LEED Silver certification.

The O Street Market is the centerpiece of the project. Originally called the Northern Market, the historic facade of which has been restored and will house a 72,000 square foot flagship Giant supermarket, complete with underground parking and loading docks, to minimize traffic impact. The O Street Market was one of the five original markets built in the 19th century to serve the city.
