Rockville, Maryland is opening a new outdoor ice-skating rink at Rockville Town Square at 200 E Middle Lane, Rockville, MD. A smaller, temporary rink (made of plastic) has been open for the past few years. The new Rink at the Square is made of real ice and at 7,200 square feet, is the largest outdoor ice skating rink between Baltimore and Washington, DC and the largest in Montgomery County, Maryland. The Grand Opening of the Rockville Town Square Ice Rink will be on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at 6:45 p.m. The opening ceremony will include live music, local dignitaries, hot chocolate and fireworks. The highlight of the evening will be a special appearance by American Figure Skater and former Olympian, Kimmie Meissner, who will officially open the ice rink to the public with a special performance and autograph signing. Ice skating rates are $7 (12 and under),
$8 (13 and up) and $3 skate rentals. Regular operating hours will be Mon-Thur, Noon to 10 p.m., Fri Noon to 11 p.m., Sat 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sun 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
