The Launch Zone at National Harbor will close its doors on Monday, Sept. 3, 2012 to prepare for the opening of the National Children's Museum.
The museum will continue to support family-friendly programming this fall by participating in events around the capital region. Here are some events coming up in September:

- Hispanic Festival - Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, noon - 5 p.m. Lane Manor Park, Adelphi, MD. Families can enjoy carnival games, arts and crafts, live music, face painting and pony rides, and ethnic food from a variety of countries.
- Clearwater Nature Fair - Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, noon - 4 p.m. Clearwater Nature Center, Clinton, MD.
The Museum will host an activity where children can make their own rain sticks.
- National Family Pack Walk - Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. National Mall, Washington DC. Join Cesar Millan (the "Dog Whisperer"), Scooby-Doo and thousands of dog lovers and their four-legged friends for the nation's largest pack walk.
- DC Green Festival - Saturday, Sept. 29-30, 2012. Washington Convention Center, Washington DC. The event features DIY demonstrations, a green film festival, keynote speakers and workshops, and a marketplace with hundreds of local and national green businesses. The Museum will provide the Imagination Playground at the event's Green Kids Zone, and will also supervise arts and crafts activities.
