Antietam National Battlefield will commemorate the 150th Anniversary of the Battle of Antietam on September 15-17, 2012. Special programs include family activities, hikes, living history by the Maryland Historical Society Players, well known guest speakers, special exhibits and tours, and the Remembrance Ceremony at Antietam National Cemetery. The Battlefield is located 70 miles northwest of Washington, DC, 65 miles west of Baltimore, 23 miles west of Frederick and 13 miles south of Hagerstown. This is a great time to explore the Civil War battlefield and learn more about local history.
