The United States Navy Band will present a special concert entitled "America's Navy: Defining the Fighting Spirit," at DAR Constitution Hall in Washington DC on Oct. 14, 2012 at 4 p.m. in honor of the Navy's 237th birthday. Featuring a wide variety of music, the concert highlights the Navy's past, present and future as an American fighting force. The concert includes performances by the Navy Concert Band, Sea Chanters chorus and Country Current country/bluegrass ensemble. This year's program features music by Keith Urban, John Williams, Carmen Dragon, the Wailin' Jennys and Rodney Atkins, in addition to selections from the musicals "The Scarlet Pimpernel" and "Chess." The US Navy Band performs over 270 public concert each year with 6 primary performing groups and a host of smaller ensembles. Each concert ends with a musical tribute to veterans from all branches of the armed service.
