The U.S. Coast Guard is building new headquarters at St. Elizabeths in SE Washington DC. The project is the first stage of the Department of Homeland Security's consolidation and the redevelopment of a 350-acre national historic landmark. The 11-story office building is expected to be complete in May 2013 and will provide a 1.2 million square feet facility for 3,860 employees. The U.S. Coast Guard Headquarters Building has the largest green roof in the country and is targeting LEEDŽ Gold certification. The building's design consists of cascading quadrangles constructed into the hillside. It sure looks like quite an incredible building! Read more about the redevelopment of St. Elizabeths
