November 24, 2012 is Small Business Saturday, a day dedicated to supporting small businesses. On the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend, one of the busiest shopping times of the year, millions of Americans will shop at their favorite local stores and help fuel the economy. The Washington, DC area has a number of great neighborhoods for shopping. The following organizations are among the local supporters in the area:
  • Adams Morgan Partnership BID
  • Barracks Row Main Street
  • DC Chamber of Commerce
  • DC Department of Small and Local Business Development
  • Deanwood Heights Main Streets
  • Destination DC
  • Georgetown Business Improvement District
  • H Street Main Street, Inc.
  • Historic Dupont Circle Main Streets
With more than 70% of its businesses independently-owned, Georgetown is a great place to shop on Small Business Saturday. More than 200 one-of-a-kind boutiques, cafés and galleries will offer specials, ranging from 10% off all wine at Bacchus, 30% off "big art" at Susan Calloway Fine Arts, and buy-one-get-one-free deals on winter boots and accessories at TARI. To help make getting around Georgetown easy on Small Business Saturday, pedicabs will transport shoppers throughout Georgetown for free.
