The National Children's Museum
is opening on December 14, 2012! The museum will provide a rich indoor experience focusing on play, civic engagement, the environment, the arts, health and well being, and global citizenship. A creative outdoor space will open in Spring 2014 to include a toddler zone; "challenge mountain" adventure; water play zone; fantasy garden; and a variety of other activities where children can explore, create, and discover the wonders of the natural world. The museum is the only national museum dedicated entirely to children and their families and caregivers.
The National Children's Museum was scaled down since its initial plans to build a museum at National Harbor
due to the economy's effect on fundraising. The museum has served the community for the past year through its Launch Zone and community outreach activities including its Museum Without Walls programs. Read More About the National Children's Museum.
