The Maryland Polar Bear Plunge at Sandy Point State Park is coming up on January, 26, 2013. Not daring enough to take a dip in the wintry waters of the Chesapeake Bay? You can attend to watch and enjoy the full-day winter festival featuring the Robert Andrews Tuscan Spa Retreat, the Carnival FunFest tent with games, food and other displays, the Rams Head Ice Lodge, and more. The charity event is sponsored by the Maryland State Police in support of the Special Olympics. Mass Plunges will take place at both 1 and 3 p.m. You may register online or the day of the event. See Photos of the Maryland Polar Bear Plunge.

Polar Plunges have grown in popularity and now there are several around the region. See a schedule of Polar Plunges in Maryland and Virginia.
