Colonial Williamsburg is offering a special weekend of events this March dedicated to celebrating the spirit, courage and hope of African Americans and women in the pursuit of freedom. March 8-10, 2013, the 'Steadfast Spirits' weekend will champion the unyielding spirit of Africans and women during the Revolutionary Era with guest performances, storytellers, special programming and more. An engaging getaway is easy and affordable, with packages starting at $110.Erica Hubbard, star of BET's Let's Stay Together," joins Colonial Williamsburg to tell the story of Lydia, an enslaved woman whose emancipation led her to becoming a businesswoman in Richmond. The story of Lydia is one of a woman facing, enduring and overcoming the shifting challenges of slavery and freedom during the age of the American Revolution. Other events including a performance by Grammy-award-winning ensemble Sweet Honey in the Rock, interactive programming, guest speakers and more.
