Here's some exciting news for families! National Harbor is adding a 36-foot Americana-themed carousel to the property, which will be installed right at the water's edge. They'll also be adding a play area and picnic tables to complete the installation and make it an inviting place for families to not only ride the carousel, but have a picnic or spend a day playing at the waterfront as well. A grand opening celebration will be held on May 10-12, 2013. Grand Opening festivities start at noon each day and feature:
  • Entertainment by Rocknocerus and The Great Zucchini
  • Appearances by Slapshot, G-Wiz, Pinch, Peep and Fireball
  • Stella's PopKern Truck
  • Balloon Twisters and Face Painters
The Carousel at National Harbor is located on National Plaza at the north end of National Harbor along the waterfront. See a map and directions. Admission is $5 for an all day pass or $3 for a single carousel ride. Mom and Dad are free with purchase of admission for children.

Sir: I drove to National Harbor yesterday to find the carousel for a family outing. I can see the top of the structure from Old Town Alexandria, but I could not find the location. I drove thru the National Harbor stores areas, and asked couple people, but no one seemed to know about it. I would love to see a picture posted on web, but directions on how to find it.
