Gingertown 2013 World Games brings local architects, engineers and builders together to create a huge gingerbread sports village out of hundreds of pounds of sugary building materials, such as icing, jelly beans, sprinkles and gumdrops. This year's Gingertown will be constructed at retail spaces at the corner of 13th and U Streets, NW. Washington DC, on December 4, 2013 from 5 to 9 p.m. This annual holiday event, invented by David M. Schwarz Architects
, returns for the eighth time to celebrate the fun, excitement and generosity of the season with delightful and delectable handmade gingerbread creations, such as the Charleston Chew Chew Train Station, Sweetzerland, Peztonia, Mt. Toblerone Ski Area, Chunky Training Center, Jawbreaker Hospital and the Dum Dum Information Center. Following its assembly, Gingertown will be on display for the public to enjoy for several days before its individual structures are donated, together with cash contributions, to area nonprofits.
