James Bond Film Festivals in Washington, DC

Wednesday May 14, 2008
If you are a 007 fan, you are in luck! There are two James Bond Film Festivals going on in the DC area this summer. The NoMa Summer Film Festival in Washington, DC offers free films on Thursday evenings at Florida and New York Avenues, NE. The film series will take place on the future site of MRP Realty’s Washington Gateway project, a one million square foot mixed-use project that will begin construction later this year. On Monday evenings, James Bond films will be screened at the Crystal Screen Outdoor Film Festival in Crystal City, Virginia. Both film festivals began in early May and run through the summer.

I love thiss event. It is great to get out in Rosslyn and see the films. I think the Arlington has done a reaelly smart thing in developing activities for the community. It is a cool/hip counter to Screen on the Green and easieri to get too than SilverDocs ro E Street Cinema. I wish though that arlington woulld do a poll and choose movvies based on what the community wants to see. I mean the james bond moivies are crowd pleasers but there tons other movies that would be bring yound and old out–by sidewalk or skybridge–to the park. One other place listing area activities is www.dcguidebook.com on the web. About.com has done a fantastic job of looking for local events to post on the web. Great job, Rachel!!!!

There are two great, great festivals - the NoMa and the Rosslyn James Bond Festivals. We were there - Rosslyn - on Friday and there were over 400 people and it was so much fun i cannot begin to describe it… Popcorn, what seemed like 10 big beach balls being bounced around, the ODDJOB contest… it was amazing. And the CREW at these shows is so fun and so funny - what a bunch of hams.

The sound is fantastic and the letterbox format is sharp, crisp and clear and there are subtitles too… I give it a triple thumbs up - there isn’t a better pair of outdoor festivals in the area - period! Keep it up, you crazy kids…
