SW Washington DC - A Map and Guide to Southwest Washington DC
SW Washington DC (also known as Southwest DC) is located south of the National Mall and west of South Capitol Street. It is the smallest quadrant of the city and contains just five separate neighborhoods: the Southwest Federal Center, the Southwest Waterfront, Buzzard Point, Bolling Air Force Base and Bellevue.|
SW Washington DC contains the museums and memorials along the south side of the National Mall, L'Enfant Plaza, numerous federal office buildings, several marinas, the Maine Avenue Fish Market, Arena Stage, Fort McNair, Hains Point and East Potomac Park, West Potomac Park, the headquarters of the U.S. Coast Guard, and Bolling Air Force Base.
With its prime location along the Potomac River and excellent access to downtown Washington DC, the Southwest Waterfront is undergoing a transformation into an urban destination that mixes maritime activity with culture. Redevelopment plans include building new restaurants, shops, condominiums, a hotel, marinas, a waterfront park, and an expanded riverfront promenade with public access to the water. This map shows the boundaries of SW Washington, DC.
