Historic Auction

New in 2008, the festivities continue on Sunday, July 13, at 2 p.m., with a historic public auction of 1749 land to benefit the Alexandria Food Bank. Step back to the 18th century and be a part of Alexandria's beginning with a unique recreation of a public auction of early town lots! The event will be held at Market Square at 301 King Street in Old Town Alexandria. See a map of Alexandria. To participate in the auction, embrace the bartering spirit of the 18th century and bring non-perishable food items for donation to ALIVE! Alexandria's food bank. Bidders will receive 5 pounds for every single food item (canned fruit, soup, jar of peanut butter, etc.). For those preferring the modern method, donate $2 in lieu of a canned good.
