Gaithersburg 4th of July Fireworks and Big Bang Weekend Celebration

For the July 4th weekend, the City of Gaithersburg, Maryland will host a series of family friendly events including concerts, movies, and fireworks. The Big Bang Weekend Celebration begins on Thursday, July 2, 2009 with special events that run through Monday, July 6, 2009.

July 2, 2009, 10:30 a.m. Children's concert featuring Arianna Ross, City Hall Concert Pavilion, 31 South Summit Avenue, Olde Towne Gaithersburg. This enthralling storyteller takes her audiences around the world through stories, dance and music. Discover the similarities and differences in geography, culture, history and celebrations.

July 2, 2009 at dusk. Thursday Night at the Movies. MADAGASCAR. Robertson Park, 801 Rabbitt Road off of Quince Orchard Boulevard. BBQ by Uncle Charlie's will be available for purchase starting at 7:30 p.m. Snacks and ice cream will also be sold. The Admission is free. A donation of nonperishable food items to help local needy families would be greatly appreciated.

July 3, 2009, 7 p.m. Concert by the National Institute of Health Community Orchestra, City Hall Concert Pavilion, 31 South Summit Avenue, Olde Towne Gaithersburg. Enjoy an evening of symphonic sounds under the including Sousa marches and patriotic pieces, a Cole Porter medley, a James Bond movie theme medley and much more

July 4, 2009. Gaithersburg's 4th of July Fireworks and Concert, Montgomery County Fairgrounds, 16 Chestnut Street. Gates open at 5 p.m. Walk in at Chestnut or Dalamar Streets. Perry Parkway itself and the Perry Parkway entrance will be closed. WASH FM starts the night off at 6 p.m. with fun and games for the whole family, followed by a concert featuring Free Spirit at 7 p.m. A special City of Gaithersburg ceremony will take place at 8 p.m., with more music to follow. The fireworks display will begin at approximately 9:25 p.m. The rain date for this event is July 5.

July 5, 2009, 5 - 7 p.m. English Channel Concert, City Hall Concert Pavilion, 31 South Summit Avenue, Olde Towne Gaithersburg. Enjoy British Invasion music from the '60's and 70's - the Beatles, Rolling Stones, the Dave Clark 5, the Kinks, Petula Clark, The Yardbirds, and more. Note that if the July 4 fireworks are postponed until July 5, this concert will take place at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds before the fireworks.

July 6, 3009, 10:30 a.m. Alden Phelps: Word Play. City Hall Concert Pavilion, 31 South Summit Avenue, Olde Towne Gaithersburg. Alden's far-fetched, funny songs include originals such as "My Mommy's A Pirate" and "Chocolate Pie.
