GoodDogz.org

A Non-Profit Organization Fighting Dog Homelessness

By Rachel Cooper, About.com

GoodDogz.org is a Washington, DC area based non-profit organization that strives to increase the number of successful dog adoptions and to educate potential dog owners about dog selection and care.

GoodDogz.org provides a step-by-step guide to help people make responsible decisions when choosing a new dog. The organization provides information on feeding, training, healthcare, grooming and more.

GoodDogz.org, networks with over 100 rescue groups mostly in the Washington, DC area, sponsoring adoption events and promoting low-cost spay/neuter and veterinary services. Each rescue group has its own philosophy and screens potential dog owners in its own way. For example, some rescue groups will not adopt a dog out to persons in the military, senior citizens or families with young children. The GoodDogz.org website provides profiles to help adoptive families find the organization that will best suit their needs.

GoodDogz.org also provides guidance to rescue groups by helping them develop strategies to recruit volunteers and to raise funds. The organization develops workshops and training programs to help the rescue groups learn how to better manage themselves and more effectively utilize their resources.

If you would like to volunteer, please call (571) 233-4557 or send an email to info@gooddogz.org. GoodDogz.org appreciates financial contributions as well. You may send a donation to GoodDogz.org, Inc., 12210 Fairfax Towne Center, PMB #919, Fairfax, Virginia 22033.
