Smithsonian Summer Camp in Washington, DC

Summer camps at the Smithsonian offer something for everyone. The Smithsonian Resident Associates sponsors full- and half-day summer camp programs for children in grades K-8 guiding them in the exploration of Washington, DC’s Smithsonian museums, the National Mall, and other regional sites. The camps focus on a specific theme such as computer technology, video arts, music & dance, exploration of other lands & outer space, theater, photography, and art. A teacher assistant program is offered for ages 15 and up.

Smithsonian Camp Schedules

Camps are offered in a one week sessions from Monday, June 18 through Friday, August 17, 2012. Half-day and Full-day programs are available. Half-day sessions are from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 1:30-4:30 p.m. Full-day sessions are from 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

The full-day camps include a supervised brown-bag lunch hour. Half-day sessions include a snack time. An After-Camp Program is available from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Pre-registration is required.

Camp Meeting Location

Drop-off and pick-up place is the entrance of the Smithsonian's S. Dillon Ripley Center at 1100 Jefferson Drive, SW Washington, DC. (202) 357-3030.

Cost

The Smithsonian encourages you to become a Smithsonian Resident Associate by offering a $50 discount per week to members. (The cost of a one-year family membership is $50) Half-day camps are $175 for members and $233 for General Admission. Full-day camps are $350-$360 for members and $408-$418 for General Admission.
