Winter Lights at Seneca Creek State Park

Winter Lights is a magical Christmas light display at Seneca Creek State Park in Gaithersburg, Maryland. See more than 350 illuminated displays and along a 3.5-mile drive through the park. Driving through the enchanted forest setting, you will experience an array of displays that light up the night. Themed areas include Winter Woods, Teddy Bear Land, Victorian Village, the North Pole and much more. Winter Lights benefit local charities such as the Dwelling Place, the Friends of Seneca Creek State Park, Hospice Caring, Inc., Identity, and the Shady Grove Adventist Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

New for 2008, the Gaithersburg Winter Lights Festival is offering a 2.2 mile walk through the displays on Sunday, November 30, 2008 from 5-8:30 p.m. Space is limited, and registration is required. Call (301) 258-6350. No vehicles will be allowed in the park after 5 p.m. Walkers are asked to park at 9 West Watkins Mill Road. Free shuttle buses will run between the parking lot and the festival from 5:15 to 7:45 p.m. Admission is $12 for those ages 13 and older and $5 for ages three through 13. Children under two are admitted free, but must be carried or in a collapsible stroller.

$10 per car Sunday-Thursday, $12 per car Friday and Saturday. Two dollar discount coupons valid Monday through Thursday only are available at nearby Lakeforest Mall.

Trolley Rides
Open trolley rides through the Christmas light display is a great way to see the lights from a different perspective. Open Air Trolley Rides will be held December 1-4, 2008 at a cost of $5 per person. Seating is limited and available on a first come, first served basis.
