Back Bay Wildlife Refuge, located at the southern end of Virginia Beach, contains more than 9,000 acres of beach, dunes, woodlands, and marsh providing a protective habitat for a variety of wildlife including migrating waterfowl and endangered species. Operated by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge offers scenic trails, a visitor center, and educational programs.
