DC Shorts Film Festival 2007 Washington, DC

The DC Shorts Film Festival is the Washington, DC area’s only film festival dedicated to showcasing and discussing short films from around the world. DC Shorts 2007 will showcase 89 short films and seven screenplays. It is the DC area’s only film festival dedicated to showcasing and discussing short films and screenplays (25 minutes or less) from around the world. For the first time in the festival’s history, there is a category for high definition films, presented by Discovery HD Theatre.

For the past few years, screenings have sold out, with each show featuring approximately 10 short films. After each screening, a discussion session provides a forum for the audience to meet and make connections with filmmakers from the Washington, DC area and abroad.

Awards Ceremony

Prizes will be presented on Sunday, September 16, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Clyde's - Gallery Place, 707 7th Street, NW Washington, DC (202) 349-3700.

Opening Cocktail Reception

An Opening Cocktail Party will take place on Friday, September 14, 2007 at 6:00 p.m. at Poste Brasserie at Hotel Monaco at 700 F Street, NW Washington, DC (202) 628-7177. This reception is free to with any ticket to a screening that takes place on Friday, September 14, 2007.

Prizes

Cash awards for $250 will be presented in five categories: Female Director, Filmmakers' Choice Festival Director's Choice; Best Screenplay and Best Local Film. A single winner in the High Definition Competition--chosen by audience voting and a special panel of judges, which include high definition filmmakers and acquisitions staff from the Discovery HD Theater network--will be presented $500. The winning HD film will receive the opportunity to be broadcast to millions of households across the country.
