DC One Card

ID Card for the District of Columbia

By Rachel Cooper, About.com

The DC One Card is a new consolidated picture ID card for residents of the District of Columbia that provides access to DC government programs and facilities, including recreation centers, libraries and schools. The DC One Card was launched in June 2008 for participants in the Summer Youth program and will eventually become a student ID and an access card for all DC government buildings and programs. The card gives residents the convenience of using one card for local services and can also be tied to the Metro SmarTrip card to ride Metrorail. DC One Cards are issued by the Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) and DOES’ Summer Youth Program.
