The American Diabetes Association hosts its annual National Capital Tour de Cure bicycling event in Reston, Virginia to support diabetes awareness, education, research, and advocacy. The Tour de Cure is not a race, but rather a ride that encourages people of all experience levels to participate in an event to raise the level of awareness about diabetes. Bicyclist will ride on the scenic Washington and Old Dominion Trail on 100, 63, 32, or 12 mile routes. Participants form teams and raise money to benefit the nearly 21 million children and adults with diabetes. Similar events take place each spring in over 80 cities across the country.
