Corn Mazes have become a popular fall activity and are great fun for the whole family. Stroll through a giant corn maze and work together to find puzzle pieces that will complete your own maze map. The corn mazes are all located on large farms that offer a variety of fall activities onsite. Here is a guide to corn mazes in Maryland and Virginia within a short drive from the Washington, DC area.

In Maryland

Summers Farm Corn Maze
5614 Butterfly Lane, Frederick, Maryland. (301) 620-9316. The maze is a part of Summers Farm Adventure which includes a variety of farm activities including pig races, 65 x 45 foot-long jumping pillow, giant mountain slides, pedal-cart derby, the pig races, Little Farmersville, the pumpkin train, and concessions. September 21 - November 5, 2013.

Crumland Farms Corn Maze
7612 Willow Road, Frederick, Maryland. (301) 845-8099. Corn maze, pumpkin patch, haunted hayride, pedal carts, giant trikes, mini-barnyard, hay jump, giant slide, MooChoo train and more. September 28-November 2, 2013, Tuesday through Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Lawyer’s Winterbrook Farms & Moonlight Maze
13003 Creagerstown Rd. AKA Route 550, Thurmont, Maryland (240) 315-8133. Six miles of trails, indoor corn maze, pumpkin canyon, food and more. September 13-November 3, 2013, Fridays 5 to 10 p.m., Saturdays noon to 10 p.m. and Sundays noon to 5 p.m.

Corn Maze at Zekiah Farms
5235 Bryantown Road, Waldorf, Maryland (240) 216-4065. Three miles of pathways through the cornfields. Hayrides, farm animals, pumpkins, straw pit, seasonal produce, farm store, food, and more. Open Saturdays and Sundays through October, 10 a.m. to dusk.

Maizefest at River Valley Ranch
4443 Grave Run Rd, Manchester, Maryland. Giant Corn Maze, pumpkin patch, horse rides, hay rides, moonbounce, play ground, mini tractors, food and more. Open October 5, 12, 19, 20, and 26, 2013. Hours vary.

In Virginia

Corn Maze in the Plains
Old Tavern Rd., Just off I-66, Exit 31, The Plains, Virginia. (540) 456-7339. Corn maze adventure, barnyard of fun with giant slides, mini mazes, roll tubes, farm animals, picnic areas, and hayrides. Open September 28-November 3, 2013, Fridays (in October only) 10 a.m.-10 p.m., Saturdays, 10 a.m.-10 p.m., Sundays 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Columbus Day 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

Dairy Farm Tours Corn Maze Adventure at Cows-N-Corn
5225 Catlett Road, Midland, Virginia. (540) 439-4806. Corn maze, haunted corn maze, gift shop, snacks and refreshment stand, restrooms, picnic area, hay rides. Open: Weekends, through October. Friday 4-9 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m.-9 p.m., Sunday 12:30-8 p.m.

The Maize at Temple Hill Farm Regional Park
15789 Temple Hall Lane, Leesburg, Virginia (703) 779-9372. Corn maze, barnyard fun, hayrides, hay jump and more. Open September 27-November 5, 2013, Fridays and Saturdays 10 a.m.-10 p.m., Sundays 11 a.m.-6 p.m.

Corn Maze at Bridgemont Farm
600 Wissler Rd, Quicksburg, Virginia. (540) 477-4200. Located in the northern Shenandoah Valley. Three corn mazes, barn slide, pedal go karts, pumpkins and more. Open late August - early November, Fridays 4-10 p.m., Saturdays 11 a.m.-10 p.m., Sundays 1-7 p.m.

Corn Maze at Hartland Farm and Orchard
3064 Hartland Lane, Markham, Virginia. (540) 533-6901. Five-acre corn maze, caramel apples and cider, pony hops, goats to feed, a giant slide, and other activities. Open weekends from September 7- October 27, 2013., Saturdays and Sundays, 10 a.m - 5 p.m, in October open until 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday evenings.

Corn Maze at Buckland Farm Market
4484 Lee Highway, Warrenton, Virginia. (540) 341-4739. The 4-acre Civil War themed corn maze, hayrides, a barrel train ride, farm animals, children's play area and other activities. Open 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. mid September - early November 2013, flashlight nights on Saturdays through October.

Corn Maze at Liberty Mills Farm
9166 Liberty Mills Road, Somerset, VA. (434) 882-MAZE (6293). Home to Virginia’s largest corn maze, visitors can navigate their way through 25 acres, divided into four separate trails. The trails range in difficulty and take about 30 minutes for the easiest and 2-3 hours for the most challenging. The farm also offers picking flowers, produce, pumpkins or strawberries. Open September 14-November 3, 2013.
