Fourth of July in Frederick is an all day event! Afternoon activities include live musical performances, a volleyball tournament, food contests, best patriotic pageant, food and much more. The community gathers to celebrate Independence Day with a spectacular fireworks display at dusk.
LocationBaker Park, Second and Bentz Streets, Frederick, Maryland. (301) 228-2844. The 44-acre park is the ideal location for a full day of family fun. In addition to the special holiday events, recreation facilities include Culler Lake, a public swimming pool, numerous playgrounds, athletic fields and picnic areas.
Parking: FREE parking will be provided all day in the Church Street, Court Street, W. Patrick Street, and Carroll Creek Parking Decks. Parking will also be available at Frederick High School (located at 650 Carroll Parkway) for a cost of $4. Proceeds benefit Frederick High School Sports Boosters. Shuttle service will not be provided at this year’s celebration. Due to the fireworks relocation this year, parking is no longer available at Parkway Elementary School. Handicap parking has been reserved along Second Street just west of College Avenue and from West College Terrace to Midnite Alley, and on Carroll Parkway near the intersection of West College Terrace.
Independence Day Opening CeremonyAt 12 p.m. join local dignitaries and representatives from The Constitution Week Committee of the Frederick Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution for a special reading of the Preamble to the Declaration of Independence.
Great Frederick Bathtub RacesAr 12:30 p.m. at Culler Lake. Stop by to see 9 teams compete for $1000 in cash and prizes.
Musical EntertainmentA wide range of music will be performed on four stages. Enjoy rock and roll, country, reggae, folk, and patriotic music throughout the day.
Children's Activities12:30 - 7:30 p.m. There is plenty of entertainment for kids including pony rides, crafts, a petting zoo, carousel, train ride, moon bounces, clown, stilt walker, a dunk tank, martial arts demonstrations, remote control cars, video games and more. Amusements are priced per ride, or wristbands are available for unlimited rides.
Food Contests1:30 p.m. – The Starvin’ Marvin Pizza Eating Contest pins eight men and women in two competitions to see how fast they can eat a Starvin’ Marvin pizza.
2:10 p.m. – The Inaugural SteakZilla-Chilla Challenge from Rocky Point Creamery and Starvin’ Marvin challenges five brave souls to devour a 12 Steak-Zilla Sub (Steak & Cheese with Provolone Cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, mayo & grilled onions topped with an order of french fries) followed by a pint of Sweet Cream ice cream.

FireworksAt dusk - The fireworks will be shot off from Parkway Elementary School at 300 Carroll Pkwy. The best viewing areas are surrounding the swimming pool on Fleming Avenue, on the Frederick High School lawn or in the new expanded open area surrounding the Bandshell in the Carillon area.
