The town of Leesburg, Virginia celebrates the holiday season with a variety of special events, including a Christmas tree lighting ceremony, a holiday craft show, and a holiday parade, festival and concert. Leesburg is also a great place to enjoy shopping, dining, and seasonal cheer. Here’s the schedule of upcoming events:

Christmas Tree Lighting - December 2, 2011, 6 p.m. Town Green, 25 W Market St, Leesburg, Virginia. The Leesburg community kicks off the holiday season with the town Christmas tree lighting, featuring performances from local elementary schools, high schools, words from the mayor, council and guest speaker. Join in a holiday sing-a-long and stay in town for the evening for Leesburg’s First Friday event - local businesses and merchants will be open late to host some holiday cheer.

Holiday Fine Arts and Craft Show – December 3-4, 2011. Ida Lee Park Recreation Center, 60 Ida Lee Dr. NW, Leesburg, Virginia. The show features over 90 local and regional artisans selling hand made items from candles, stained glass, carved wood, jewelry, leather products, table linens, and much more. Hours are Saturday 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Leesburg Holiday Parade and Festival - December 10, 2011, 10 a.m. Catch your Christmas spirit and bring the whole family to see Santa and his friends parade down King Street, through the heart of historic Leesburg. The festival will be capped off by the Jingle Jam, Leesburg’s holiday rock n’ roll concert featuring many local and regional artists playing traditional holiday tunes- with a little edge. There will be three shows this year - a Jr Jam for kids at 11:30 a.m. and two Jingle Jam sessions: 2:30pm and 8:00pm. Tickets are $5 for the Jr Jam and $15 for the Jingle Jam. Proceeds benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Tickets must be purchased in person.

Also, visit Oatlands Historic House and Gardens. Throughout the holiday season, the 360-acre estate will come alive with historic and handcrafted decorations. Explore the estate and enjoy live music, unique shopping and afternoon tea.
