St. Patrick’s Day Dining and Pub Crawling in the Washington, DC Area

What's better than corned beef and cabbage and green beer on St. Patrick's Day? The Irish restaurants and pubs in the Washington, DC area will be hopping with Irish cheer on March 17th. You don't have to be Irish to enjoy the festivities and you will find that a variety of Washington, DC area restaurants get into the spirit by celebrating St. Patrick's Day with food and drink specials. Here is a schedule of some notable dining and pub crawling events:

Leprechaun Lap
March 2, 2013, 1 - 9 p.m., an annual St. Patrick's Day bar crawl begins at Mackey's Public House at 1823 L St. NW, Washington, DC. The Leprechaun Lap includes food and drink specials at Rumors, Sign of the Whale, the Front Page, McFadden's, Porter's, the Bottom Line, Recessions and the Madhatter. Registration is between 1 and 6 p.m. at Mackey's. The cost is $10 with two cans of food to donate to a local charity, $15 without.

Shamrocks & Shenanigans
March 16-17, 2013. Rumors, 19th and M St. NW Washington DC. First ever, two day celebration. On Saturday, from 3 p.m.–2 a.m., enjoy discounted brews, a bagpiper, DJs, & Irish dancers and live Irish bands including The ShamRogues and Turtle Recall. On Sunday, the party begins at 11 a.m. with live music by Mike Leverone. There will also be contests throughout the weekend, including the best Irish garb, as well as best Irish jig.

The St. Patty’s Day SoberRide program will be in operation beginning at 4:00 pm on March 17 and continue until 4:00 am the following day as a way to keep local roads safe from impaired drivers during this traditionally high-risk holiday. Read more about SoberRide.

Shaw Community St. Patrick's Day Festival
March 17, 2013, 11 a.m.-5p.m. 6th St. NW between Florida Ave and S St. Washington DC. Hosted by Shaw's Tavern, the event will feature live music, children's activities, food and beverage as well as local community vendors and information booths.

McGinty's Public House
March 17, 2013. 911 Ellsworth Drive, Silver Spring, MD. (301) 587-1270. Irish Music, Fiddle players, Irish Dancing and Montgomery Co Firefighters Pipe and Drum Band from 11 am until last call. Green beer and a limited menu of all your Irish favorites.

Pot of Gold St. Patty’s Day Pub Crawl
March 17, 2013, 1-7 p.m. Downtown Frederick, MD. Enjoy food, drinks, prizes and revelry kicking off at Cafe 611. Pick up your 20oz mug, t-shirt and raffle tickets, enjoy complimentary beers and live music before traveling down Market Street to the several other participating bars and restaurants.
