Maryland Lottery


The Maryland Lottery offers a variety of exciting games of chance, including Pick 3, Pick 4, Bonus Match 5, Mega Millions and numerous instant scratch tickets. Proceeds from the Maryland Lottery support services and programs such as education, public health, human resources, public safety and much more. Designated proceeds from the Mega Millions game benefit the Stadium Authority. Maryland is one of the few states in the nation where winners can remain anonymous.

To play the Maryland Lottery, you must be 18 years of age or older. Here is a summary of the games:

Instant Games

Maryland Lottery sells a variety of instant scratch games where you can win cash prizes any time of day. Also Keno is a quick game that offers drawings every four minutes from 6 a.m. to 1 a.m., seven days a week. Instant games have prizes up to $1,000,000.

Pick 3, Pick 4

Top Prize: Pick 3 - $500, Pick 4 - $5000. Pick 3 and Pick 4 are daily drawings, held twice a day. Bets are $.50 or $1. This lottery game offers a straight or boxed option. Tickets can be purchased in advance.

Bonus Match 5

Top Prize: $50,000 per game board (maximum of 12 boards). This game gives you 9 chances to win. You may play one board for $1, 3 boards for $2, 4 boards for $3, 6 boards for $4, 7 boards for $5, or 9 boards for $6. Players select 5 numbers. Every evening, the Maryland Lottery selects five winning numbers ranging from 1 to 39. A Bonus Ball is also drawn from the remaining 34 numbers. To win you must match at least 3 of the numbers selected. If you match the Bonus Ball, you only need to match 2 of the numbers.

Mega Millions

Jackpots start at $12 million and grow until someone wins. There are 9 ways to win the multi-state lottery. The game costs $1 per ticket. Players choose five numbers from 1 - 56 and one MegaBall number from 1 - 46. Players have the option of choosing their numbers or having the lottery system randomly select them. Drawings are held each Tuesday and Friday and are broadcast at 11:22 p.m. on WBAL-TV11 and 11:29 p.m. on Maryland Public Television (MPT).


Top Prize: $1,000,000. Maryland Lottery offers a computer-animated game that simulates a horse race. It offers the thrill of being at the track. Players select horses and make a bet with seven different betting styles. Racetrax is available at 1,500 Lottery retailers across the state of Maryland including gathering spots, restaurants, taverns, bowling alleys and more.

Maryland Holdem

Top Prize: $5,000. Maryland Lottery offers a virtual poker game with 3D animation available at a variety of saloons, liquor and grocery store. Bets are $2, $4, $6, $8, $10 or $20.
