Theodore Roosevelt Island is a memorial to America's 26th president, in recognition of his contributions to conservation. The 91-acre wilderness preserve includes a 17-foot bronze statue of Roosevelt, four 21-foot granite tablets inscribed with tenets of his conservation philosophy and 2 1/2 miles of foot trails along the Potomac River near Washington, DC.
