Manassas National Battlefield, a 5000-acre park located 32 miles west of Washington, DC, preserves the historic site of the First and Second Battles of Manassas during the Civil War. The park offers a variety of activities, scenic vistas, and walking trails. The Henry Hill Visitors Center features a 45-minute orientation film and a museum exhibiting civil war era uniforms, weapons and artifacts. There is a $3 entrance fee for ages 16 and up.
Special ranger tours and programs will be held for the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War.
Tickets are required for the commemorative ceremony on July 21 at 9:30 a.m. (they were distributed through an online lottery ) Other events on July 21-24 are open to the general public. A four day anniversary celebration
will also take place in Old Town Manassas on July 21 - 24, 2011.
