Parking in Old Town Alexandria

By Rachel Cooper, About.com

On-Street and Free Parking

On-street parking in Old Town Alexandria is available at meters and in free spaces with posted time limits. Most free parking is limited to two hours, from 8 a.m. to 2 a.m., Monday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. Sunday until 2 a.m. Monday. With a parking pass, non-Alexandria residents can park for FREE for 24 hours in the two-hour metered spaces. The passes are distributed at the Alexandria Visitors Center at Ramsay House, 221 King Street. Prior to receiving your pass, you should find a space and feed the meter to cover the time between parking the car and returning from the Visitors Center with the pass. You’ll need to show an ID and give them your license plate number. Parking limits are strictly enforced so be sure to read all posted signs before parking.
