The final life-size figure shows Washington taking the oath of office on a replica of the Federal Hall balcony in 1789. Visitors have a chance to “step into Washington’s shoes” by placing their hand on a reproduction of the Bible upon which Washington took the oath of office. Following prompts, they recite the presidential oath, "I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."
