Guide Review - Agora Restaurant Review - Washington DC
Agora offers Mediterranean fare on small plates, with most of the dishes prepared on a wood-fired oven and charcoal fired BBQ grill. The menu features an assortment of spreads, cheese & cure, salads, cold Meze, hot vegetables, seafood, meat & poultry and homemade flatbreads. We especially enjoyed the following dishes: Sword Fish Kebap (Marinated in ginger, garlic, lemon juice and olive oil), Yaprak Dolma (Grape Leaves stuffed with rice, lamb, and beef topped with yogurt sauce), Bonfile Sarma (Filet Mignon with Kasar Cheese, sour cherry sauce, and glazed shallots), Peynirli Pide (Wood fired flat bread stuffed with Feta and Kasar cheese).
The two-story, 170-seat restaurant is warmly decorated with exposed brick, concrete flooring and an inviting 14-seat wooden bar. A wall of glass sets off the staircase to an upstairs expansion complete with 48 seats that can be used for private dining. During the spring and summer seasons, additional seating is available as the sidewalk café at Agora can accommodate 34 guests.
