The Bottom Line

Bourbon Steak, located in the Four Seasons Hotel in Georgetown, serves contemporary American fare with a focus on seasonal ingredients. Steak and seafood are the house specialties. The food is wonderful but the prices are very high.

Guide Review - Bourbon Steak Restaurant Review - Washington, DC

All meats at Bourbon Steak are first poached in butter and herbs and then grilled. That seals in the flavors and makes them fabulously juicy and tender. There are seven cuts of steak, ranging from an eight-ounce American Kobe NY ribeye to a 28-ounce porterhouse. The steaks are top notch, but the seafood dishes are also among the highlights. Some of the signature dishes include Tasmanian sea trout, red wine braised oxtail, lobster pot pie, and pecan-crusted Great Lakes pike.

Your meal begins with a serving of duck fat fries seasoned three different ways and matched with three different dipping sauces. They were tasty and interesting to compare. We especially enjoyed the ahi tuna tartare, the sea scallops, bison tenderloin and the American Kobe NY ribeye. The sidedishes - mushrooms and spinach were a bit too salty.

The decor at Bourbon Steak is elegant and warm with natural materials and crafted accents surrounding the space, from seeded and rubbed glass, to stitched leather and wood. The spacious dining room seats 144. The bar/lounge has 42 seats and offers a small-plates menu. A private dining room is also available for special events, private wine tastings and dinners for up to 22 seated guests or a 35-guest reception.

Bourbon Steak was developed by Michael Mina, a James Beard Award-winning chef and President of the Mina Group, a San Francisco-based restaurant management company specializing in upscale restaurants.
