Guide Review - Charlie Chiangs PING Restaurant Review - Shirlington, Virginia
The menu features a nice variety of Asian-fusion cuisine highlighting a combination of American local ingredients with the flavors of Asia. Signature dishes include Pork Shoulder Braised in Red Wine, Five-Spiced Stewed Beef Short Ribs, Steamed Flounder Filets Rolled with Matchstick Vegetables Sweet-Soy Sesame Jumbo Shrimp Pearls, Flaming Steak Christiana, and Lamb of Two Seasons. Many of the dishes are unique combinations. I enjoyed the milder dishes, but the spicy one's were too strong for my taste. (and I'm not particularly meek in that area)
Charlie Chiang’s Ping seats 90 in the restaurant and has an expansive, 20-seat bar including a sushi bar area, showcasing a nice selection of fresh seafood. Red is a predominant color throughout the restaurant. The decor integrates natural materials such as richly grained maple and red cedar planks, steel panels, and a glass facade. Two communal tables are in the center and can accommodate up to 10 guests each.
Charlie Chiang's has six Washington, DC area locations.
