Citronelle is noted as one of the best restaurants in America. Michel Richard Citronelle is an award-winning world renowned chef. He teaches cooking classes periodically in the Washington, DC area. Dining at Citronelle is a special experience, but an expensive treat.

Citronelle's chef/owner Michel Richard is an artist producing ever-changing and evolving creations. Appetizers include items like escargots, "fricasse"; soft shell crab, tempura, provencal compote; eggplant gazpacho, and cuttlefish, virtual fettuccini, carbonara. Main course selections include Wild Rockfish, crab risotto, saffron potato puree; Duck, served medium rare, duck leg confit, "tutti fruitti"; Lamb colorado rack, soft polenta, sunchoke endamame, garlic herb sauce and Beef chateaubriand, wild mushrooms, porcini flavored diced yukon gold potatoes, syrah sauce. Delicious desserts top off your meal such as chocolate three ways, homemade ice cream or orange souffle. Each presentation is a work of art.

You may dine at the chef's table, which is in the kitchen, so you can watch Michel Richard at work. The cost is $275 per person, with a minimum of six people. You can also dine in the restaurant's bar, and order a la carte items that range in price from $14-$38.

Citronelle's decor is elegant and romantic with a multi-tiered room providing an intimate atmosphere, a wall that changes colors and a state-of-the-art wine cellar that displays 8,000 bottles. Service was outstanding, with attention to every detail.
