Guide Review - Coastal Flats Restaurant Review - Tyson's Corner
Coastal Flats is a lively restaurant with a creative menu of seafood dishes. There are plenty of other dishes including salads, beef, and chicken. Standouts on the menu include dishes such as Blue Crab & Rock Shrimp Fritters, Corn and Crab Chowder, Crispy Two Noodle Shrimp Salad, Coastal Lobster Roll, Jumbo Lump Crab Cake, Pecan Crusted Trout and Drunken Ribeye. I especially enjoyed the Hong Kong Style Sea Bass steamed with fresh leaf spinach in a soy sherry broth with sesame ginger, scallions & sticky rice. The dish was uniquely prepared and very tasty. For dessert, I would highly recommend the Warm White Chocolate Bread Pudding…bourbon custard sauce, vanilla ice cream & caramel.
The restaurant can be noisy when busy. The lighting is modern with a variety of interesting fixtures. Fish sculptures dangle from the ceiling. The walls are decorated with spectacular coastal themed murals created by muralist and former GMC car designer, John Gable.
