Moon Bay Coastal Cuisine Restaurant Review - Gaylord National Resort

Moon Bay Coastal Cuisine offers fresh seafood and sushi in a modern setting at the Gaylord National Resort.

The menu at Moon Bay features seafood appetizers, soups and salads, raw bar items (oysters, shrimp and clams), a selection of sushi, crab cakes, paella, a variety of fresh fish and a few non-fish dishes. The menu has some unique offerings and variety but still a somewhat limited selection. The Asian-style rolls are plump with an interesting mix of ingredients. Most recommended is the National River Roll: Shrimp Tempura, pickled radish, cucumber, enoki musrooms, and radish sprout roll topped with Green Tea Mayonnaise, red tobiko, sesame seeds and sweet soy sauce, and the Seared Tuna Tataki Roll: Lump crab meat, cucumber, avocado and wasabi mayonaise roll topped with spicy seared tuna.

The bar offers unique and tasty cocktails, though they are pricey at $9-12. The Tropical Rainstorm is highly recommended, a mix of Bacardi, Hpnotiq Liqueur, and muddled mint.

The setting at Moon Bay Coastal Cuisine is casual and contemporary with airy dining spaces, unique light fixtures, an open kitchen, a wharf-side bar and lounge, and large group tables. Be sure to enjoy the sweeping views of the Potomac River and just outside the entrance watch the Atrium Fountain light show, nightly, starting at 6:00, 7:00, 8:00 and 9:00 p.m.
